Our Harney Harvest Booth is about all things fall, y’all! We think the perfect representation of autumn goodness can be found in this Pumpkin Spice Tea Ring. Not only does it utilize our Pumpkin Spice tea in the recipe, but having a slice of this with a cuppa Pumpkin Spice is about as gourd as it gets!
Pumpkin Spice Tea Ring
Tea Ring Ingredients:
- 2 ¼ C all-purpose flour
- ¾ C sugar, divided
- 1 package active dry yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ C water
- ¼ C milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 egg
- 3 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ C pureed pumpkin
- 1 tbsp Pumpkin Spice loose tea (or two sachets, cut open)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ginger
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ C chopped walnuts
- 1 egg yolk
Glaze Ingredients:
- ½ C confectioners sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp milk
- ¼ C finely chopped walnuts
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of the flour, ¼ cup of the sugar, yeast and salt. In a saucepan, heat water, milk, and butter. Add to dry ingredients and beat just until moist. Beat in the egg. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
- Turn onto a floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place until doubled.
- In a small bowl, beat cream cheese and remaining sugar until smooth. Add the pumpkin, Pumpkin Spice tea, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and nutmeg. Punch dough down, turn onto a floured surface.
- Roll into a 20” x 10” rectangle. Spread pumpkin mixture to within ½ inch of edges. Sprinkle with nuts. Roll up, starting with the long side, and pinch ends together to form a ring.
- Place on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled. Brush the dough with egg yolk. Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Remove from pan to a wire rack.
- Make the glaze: combine the sugar, vanilla, and enough milk to achieve a drizzling consistency. Drizzle glaze over the ring, garnish with ¼ cup chopped walnuts.
